The Reincarnation Mechanism
Devils killed in Hell are reborn on Earth with no memory of previous lives. Death on Earth returns them to Hell. This cycle makes devils effectively immortal — only the Chainsaw Devil's erasure power can grant true death. New incarnations preserve fundamental nature but reset personalities.
Nayuta: A Second Chance
Makima's reincarnation as Nayuta is the cycle's most significant example. Denji raises the reborn Control Devil with love rather than fear, hoping to break the cycle of abuse. Nayuta is not Makima, and Denji's choice gives the Control Devil the genuine connection Makima always wanted.
The Erasure Exception
The Chainsaw Devil's ability to erase concepts is the only true death for devils. When Pochita consumes a devil, the concept it represents is erased from reality across all cycles. This makes the Chainsaw Devil the most feared entity in Hell: devils who die normally return; devils consumed by Chainsaw Man are gone forever.
