The Emergence of Devils

Devils have always existed as manifestations of human fears. The Chainsaw Devil's unique ability to erase concepts means some fears no longer exist: Pochita consumed the devils of Nazis, nuclear weapons, and other possible conclusions to life besides death. This creates an alternate history where certain horrors are literally unrememberable.

The Gun Devil Incident

The 1984 rampage killed 1.2 million people in five minutes across multiple countries. Nations collectively ended all wars as fear of guns overwhelmed armed conflict. This single event reshaped global politics more than any war, paradoxically creating peace through terror.

A World Without War

The end of warfare weakened the War Devil (Yoru), who lost her power source. This demonstrates the interconnected nature of fear, devils, and human society. The pursuit of Chainsaw Man by various factions is partly driven by the desire to manipulate this relationship between human behavior and devil existence.
